Hotels get a new option for shortening the invoice-to-cash workflow

Mews announced an Accounts Receivable product as part of its hospitality operating-system update on May 27, 2026. The company says the product brings the business-to-business invoice-to-cash workflow into the same platform used for hotel operations.

What changed

According to Mews, Accounts Receivable can automatically issue an invoice when billing closes and automate reconciliation. Mews describes the product as an alternative to the handoffs that occur when a hotel uses separate systems for reservations, billing, receivables and accounting.

These are vendor claims from a product announcement, not independently measured results. Hotels should verify the available integrations, controls, pricing and implementation requirements for their own environment.

Why a hotel should care

Group stays, events, corporate accounts and other business-to-business bookings can create extra work after the guest leaves. A delayed invoice delays collection. A payment that cannot be matched automatically creates another task for the finance team. Bringing those steps into one controlled workflow may reduce duplicate entry and make outstanding balances easier to see.

The merchant impact is operational rather than a change to card-network fees. The opportunity is to remove a specific manual process and potentially shorten the time between billing closure and collection.

Who it affects

The announcement is most relevant to hotels that regularly invoice companies, event organizers, travel partners or groups. It may also matter to multi-property finance teams that reconcile payments across several systems.

What to consider doing

Map the current invoice-to-cash process before evaluating the product. Record how long it takes to issue an invoice, how many systems staff touch, where approvals happen and how payments are matched. Then ask Mews to demonstrate the complete workflow using a representative booking and your accounting integration.

Confirm user permissions, exception handling, audit records, data export, contract terms and total cost. Automation should make exceptions visible; it should not hide them.

Uncertainty and risks

These are vendor claims from a product announcement, not independently measured results. This announcement does not say in which markets Accounts Receivable is available; in a July 15, 2026 release, Mews said it is currently available for properties in EUR currency markets, with more currencies planned.
